More Vigor for the Viper



Mike Briggs of BBK Performance says you can get an extra 10 hp on average from your 2003–2006 Viper engines (including Ilmor marine applications) by replacing the 62 mm factory throttle body with a 67 mm piece from BBK. Briggs sent along some photos showing how to make the change. We have not tested it, but would welcome your comments if you try one out. Send your cards and letters to the editor.

Step 1. Remove the breather tube and air temperature sensor (after removing the air filter housing).Step 2. Use 10 mm socket to remove the four bolts holding throttle body to intake manifold. Remove throttle cable.3. Flip throttle body over and remove the  vacuum tube.4. Unplug the throttle position sensor connector and then remove throttle position sensor.5. Install vacuum tube on bottom of new BBK throttle body. 6. Install BBK throttle body onto intake manifold.7. Install throttle position sensor.8. Plug in throttle position sensor connector. Reinstall breather tube and air temperature sensor.9. Reinstall throttle cable. Note proper routing  of cable.
